The Egyptian police have arrested Tamer Hamouda, the ex-husband of Nessy Guerra, the Italian woman stuck in Egypt with her 3-year-old daughter and subjected to various threats and intimidation by the man for months.
The arrest in Egypt
Hamouda was convicted by the Italian judiciary for crimes committed in Italy, but was recently reported to the Egyptian police by the honorary consul of Italy in Hurghada for threats and attempted assault. The Italian-Egyptian Tamer Hamouda was arrested by the Hurghada police after threats made to the Italian honorary consul of Hurghada.
Tamer, according to sources, in the past had also made threats against other officials of the Italian Embassy network in Egypt, including the consul, as well as against his ex-wife, mother of the Italian-Egyptian child Aisha. Tamer was definitively convicted in Italy for crimes such as stalking and personal injury, theft and fraud, as well as having received several criminal complaints in Egypt, most recently for defamation and sexual harassment.
The story of Nessy Guerra
Last week Nessy Guerra, sentenced to six months of detention and forced labor in Egypt for “adultery” and subjected together with her daughter, who was being fought over by her father, to an expatriation ban which prevents her from returning to Italy, had told the story in a video on Instagram: Hamouda “would have headed with his mother to Hurghada to the consul’s resort, where the honorary consulate is located. The two would have threatened the consul by telling him that if he did not give him the money, they would shoot him in the legs and they would have put him in a wheelchair”, denounced the woman who lives hidden with her child and parents to escape the man. “We have been continuously threatened by these individuals for years – he added – and now even Italian state officials are being threatened with death by these people”.
Renzi: “The government should bring her home”
The secretary of Italia Viva, Matteo Renzi, asked for government intervention: “Nessy Guerra is an Italian girl who fights for her freedom and for her daughter, victim of a violent man. She was sentenced in Egypt to six months in prison for the ”crime” of adultery. She lives hidden and in fear. Her ex recently attacked an Italian diplomat and was arrested for this. Italy now has a concrete opportunity: it cannot continue to stand by and watch. Let the Government bring them home!”.
