From one cry of alarm to another. In the summer there were fears that the energy crisis could have an impact on air traffic, with companies forced to leave their vehicles on the ground due to lack of fuel. Now the problem is not availability, but cost. The price of fuel is rising more and more and the consequences could be decidedly unpleasant: increases in prices for travelers and canceled routes. This is said by the president of Assaeroporti and vice-president of Federtrasporto, Carlo Borgomeo.
More expensive airline tickets
Borgomeo spoke during the public meeting at the Confindustria headquarters and explained that there is not a problem of quantity for jet fuel, but of costs. “We don’t have concerns about availability, we have concerns about cost, given that fuel is now worth 31% of operating costs,” he said.
And if the price lists continue to rise, sooner or later an adjustment will be inevitable. What does it translate into? We must prepare “certainly for an increase in prices and, in some cases, for the cancellation of some flights”, he specified without mincing words.
