A cutting-edge photographic system
The new 48MP Fusion main camera with variable aperture is the most advanced ever created by Apple, and brings control of the aperture along with greater creative freedom to iPhone for the first time. Six laser-cut blades allow you to seamlessly switch between different apertures, making it easy to get the perfect shot by automatically adjusting depth of field and lighting. Plus, thanks to a new sensor that boosts image quality, photos look better in low-light conditions and background details in group photos are sharper. Variable aperture also gives professional content creators more control by allowing you to manually adjust each of the four aperture settings in the Camera app.
Thanks to a new computational imaging pipeline, the main camera produces sharper and more detailed shots, while improved Photo Styles, with new texture and grain controls, allow you to further customize the final result.
Pro controls are a new, customizable experience in the Camera app on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, making it easier to access your most-used settings and introducing new options for manual control. Now the user can adjust settings such as lens aperture, shutter speed and white balance, or use a histogram to check various exposure levels across the entire frame.
Apple Reference Image
Now the user can prove the authenticity of a photo taken with iPhone 18 Pro models thanks to Apple Reference Images. Technology made possible by the new main camera sensor that can sign every pixel it sees. When a photo is taken in the new Reference mode, the camera captures signed sensor data that Private Cloud Compute converts into an unalterable reference image. Reference Images can be viewed in the Photos app together with the main image, for example as a digital negative, so it is easier to compare the two shots and understand if any changes have been made.
Image metadata and upcoming support for the SynthID standard can also allow the user to identify images generated or modified with AI.
Dynamic Island
Both models have a smaller and even more functional Dynamic Island. The Dynamic Island has been redesigned using advanced display technology and can now display three real-time activities simultaneously.
A20 Pro Chip
Built using the latest 2-nanometer technology, the new A20 Pro chip boasts a 6-core CPU, integrated Neural Accelerators and a new 7-core GPU, making it up to 40% faster than the A19 Pro. The A20 Pro also has a new 16-core Dual Neural Engine that accelerates on-device AI models and computational photography, and includes a total of 32 cores, double the AI processing power of the chip A19 Pro. The latest generation vapor chamber disperses even more heat and allows a huge leap forward in consistent performance on iPhone 18 Pro, with an increase of up to 40% compared to the previous generation, the highest value ever achieved.
Both models integrate N1, an Apple-designed wireless networking chip capable of supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread standards. C2, the latest generation cellular modem designed by Apple, makes its debut on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which uses the power of AI to improve the quality and reliability of cellular networks. The C2 modem allows significantly faster upload speeds than the C1X, while consuming 15% less power.
Autonomy
The iPhone 18 Pro models offer significantly greater battery life thanks to new battery designs that take advantage of the high efficiency of the chip. iPhone 18 Pro can also reach 50% charge in about 15 minutes, or up to 50% in 30 minutes if charged wirelessly. On iPhone 18 Pro Max, five minutes of charging via cable guarantees approximately seven hours of video playback, and thanks to a new battery usage model that uses real data, it offers up to 30 hours of battery life on a full charge.
iOS 27 with latest generation Apple Intelligence
With iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max you can access Apple Intelligence, which makes apps smarter and more functional. With the Photos app, the user can improve the composition of a photo after it is taken with “Spatial Reframing” and the improved “Extend” and “Clean up” tools. And now Image Playground can create photorealistic images. The “Notify me” feature in Safari allows you to keep an eye on web pages for any changes, such as changes in the availability or price of a product, and always stay up to date with the latest updates.
iOS 27 introduces a series of improvements that make iPhone more responsive, reliable and easier to use, as well as some software design tweaks and new ways to customize the look of Liquid Glass.
Prices and availability
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will be available in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB versions. Both available in burgundy, glacier, silver and black, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at €1,489, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at €1,639. It will be possible to pre-order the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max from Saturday 12 September, with availability from Friday 18 September.
