The “Last time Pantani left” is a collective diary written by forty authors released a few months ago for the twenty years of the Pirate’s death. A book that wants to bring back to Romagna the love of one of its most unforgettable children with forty stories (one of which written by me) that remember a champion who passed away too quickly and that stop time exactly on that Saturday February 14, 2004 with places, thoughts and emotions of that last time. “The last time Pantani left” is in the final five of Gianni Mura Award of the Turin Book Fair and it is precisely with a writing by Gianni Mura that this book opens. A great satisfaction to have been selected among the finalists but the challenge continues because the winner will be decided on November 9th by a jury and a popular vote and everyone can participate online at the link at the end. These lines are not to promote vanity or private interests but a good cause given that this book was created to raise funds for flood victims in Romagna. And the prize money will also end up in Romagna, in the event of victory and again in Romagna the proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to charity to the two associations (Società Ciclistica Faentina and Cooperativa Sociale Terra dei Miti di Sorrivoli) in support of the damages suffered by the ‘flood of May 2023.
