Seathe management company of the Milan airports and the A2A Groupthrough the temporary business grouping with I exaggeratehave signed an agreement for the construction of a plant photovoltaic inside the Milan Linate airport thus strengthening the partnership which has as its objective the decarbonisation of Milan airportslaunched in 2022 after the acquisition of the Sea Energia company by A2A.
The new project includes the construction of a ground system on single-axis solar tracking structures with high-efficiency monocrystalline, bifacial and anti-reflection modules, capable of produce over 10 GWh of renewable energy per yearThe infrastructure, which uses cutting-edge technologies, will be built on a grassy area of approximately 9 hectares in the north-west area of the airport and will be operational from 2025The temporary consortium A2A – Esapro will provide the operation and maintenance service of the plant for 9 years.
This investment is another significant step towards the decarbonisation of electricity consumption of Linate which, thanks to the production of green energywill be able to satisfy 20% of the city airport’s annual needs and will contribute substantially to the annual reduction in CO₂ emissionswith a saving of approximately 5000 tons per year, equivalent to the quantity of CO2 captured by a coniferous forest extending over 160 hectares.
The project – it is underlined in a note – further consolidates Sea’s commitment towards energy transitionfor a greener and more sustainable future, in line with the path undertaken some time ago to achieve zero emissions by 2030 and with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
With the construction of the plant, the A2A Group confirms its role among the main national players in supporting the country’s decarbonization. The initiative is part of the vision outlined in the company’s Industrial Plan to 2035, which includes targeted investments to accelerate the energy transition and promote the use of renewable sources.
