Let’s try to give some poetic color to the black and white news that circulate on the web, below are some of the most clicked facts of the week seen through a color filter
Is England banning prayer?
In Great Britain, a woman, Isabel Vaughan Spruce, prayed silently near abortion centers. This violates the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO, a protected area), which prohibits all expressions of “approval or disapproval of matters relating to abortion services.” She was arrested twice for this. Now she receives 13,000 pounds in compensation and an apology. England, the home of freedom, seems to have lost the compass of its own identity, if it comes to arresting a person for the simple fact that she was praying silently. But even if she had done it loudly, does England really want to ban people from expressing their thoughts? This time, compensation has arrived, but the current climate, especially with the Labour government, does not bode well.
Follie woke in Hispanic sauce
The woke ideology has also taken over the Spanish system. In Seville, a man physically and psychologically abused his partner for ten years. A court convicted him of gender violence. But he, thanks to a crazy law on self-determination approved in the wake of the woke movement, “became” a woman with a self-declaration and therefore the crime no longer exists and he cannot be convicted. Why is woke madness? Because it distorts the most basic reality.
Harassment in the Kessler Twins Era
To understand how much ideology has changed the world in just a few decades, just listen to the voices of those who represent the previous decades. The Kessler twins, in a recent interview, declared: “A little pat on the butt is not a sexual advance, but a compliment”. And again: “Women should not be surprised if they are disturbed when they dress provocatively. The stars who walk the red carpet today are all half naked”. Phrases that, whether you agree with them or not, show how quickly the world has changed and how the concept of harassment flows with the times.
Solidarity with Massimo Boldi
To understand the climate that has been created in the West, just look at what happened to Massimo Boldi. The well-known comedian responded with a comment of esteem to Meloni’s Ferragosto greetings and this caused a storm to erupt against him on social media, so much so that Meloni herself expressed solidarity. Maybe we should just stop giving space or considering news what is written on social media; the fact that comments are written does not distinguish them from any random phrase said inside a bar.
The Salvator Mundi towards Arabia
News has been circulating that Leonardo’s “Salvator Mundi” remains locked away in a warehouse in Geneva, after being purchased in 2017 for the record sum of around 450 million euros. Its destination is the so-called “Louvre of the Sands”, the new museum that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman will open in Riyadh in the coming years. Some argue that exhibiting a representation of Christ in Saudi Arabia is a challenge to Islamic extremism, but one cannot help but dig deeper to discover the many esoteric and symbolic meanings that this painting carries with it. There will be much to talk about in the coming years.
Bob Sinclar’s outburst
It’s strange how much of an echo Bob Sinclar’s outburst had after a night out in Mykonos: “You walk into the club, wonderful place in Mykonos, beautiful girls, you think it’s going to be a fun night. But people are standing there with their cell phones in their hands. They’re frozen there filming. I’m so depressed. Maybe it’s my fault but I’ve never been so bored, and I wanted to share all of this.
Thank you for listening to me”. It seems like a simple complaint, but behind these few words there is the emotional, relational and existential discomfort of an entire generation, trapped inside those magic boxes that we call cell phones.
