Not very encouraging news has arrived in the last few hours since Pacific. According to what was reported by CCTV (China Central Television), the largest television broadcaster in the China continental controlled directly by the central government of the People’s Republic, the Chinese president Xi Jinping he would specifically ask the troops to speed up their preparation for war. Even the timing of the invitation addressed by Xi to his military appears somewhat suspicious: according to media reports, it arrived precisely in the days in which Beijing was conducting large-scale military exercises near Taiwan (could it be a coincidence?).
Last Thursday, CCTV reports, the Chinese president visited a brigade of the Chinese Missile Force.People’s Liberation Army, inviting the military to “comprehensively strengthen training and preparation for war”, in order to be able to “enhance their strategic deterrence and their ability to cobfuscation”.
On the sidelines of the visit, Xi Jinping he would also underline the need to “firmly safeguard the strategic security and fundamental interests of the country”, once again claiming Chinese sovereignty over Taiwan.
Thus, after having deployed fighter planes, drones, warships and coast guard boats to encircle Taiwan (this is the fourth round of large-scale war exercises in just over two years), the Chinese communist leader, who he never ruled out the use of force to extend the dominion of the People’s Republic on the island, he further raises the bar and lets the world know that he is ready for war to bring Taipei under Beijing’s control.
