It is not yet time for mass folding: the technology for such an advanced smartphone is still expensive, and market prices – especially for the fold versions – are still accessible to a few, despite the existing promotions. There is no doubt, however, that in this segment there were remarkable steps forward, after Samsung, followed closely by Huawei, had opened the road just under about ten years ago. Just the Korean house has now arrived with its Galaxy Z Fold7 model, and it can be said – with the competition that has become aggressive with thinner and performing versions – that the result in this case is truly remarkable. Let’s see the results of our test.
Renewat designor
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is definitely the best folding of Samsung. A device that has corrected the defects of previous generations, especially as regards the shape, weight and interface. Light, weighs 215 grams, has a thickness of closed by only 8.9 mm, which means that it is also thinner than an iPhone 16 Pro Max if you do not consider the cameras that are in a little protruding. In the pocket, the impression is to have a “normal” smartphone, and it is not a little. The body is solid, with IP48 certification, but the finish – in our blue case – is a little delicate, and on this Samsung should work given the cost of the product. The custody is therefore more than recommended, which personally does not convince me (in all models): why do color smartphones and then having to cover them?
Having said that, the qualities of this model are remarkable: the 6.5 “OLED panel is that of a traditional, the fingerprint sensor is well positioned on the side and the zipper, completely redesigned, offers a solid, millimeter opening. What is missing is a groove that makes it easier to explain the screen large, especially if you hold the phone with the left. It takes a little too much.
An internal tablet screen

Once open, Z Fold7 reveals an 8 -inch OLED screen, almost square. The fold is less visible but perceptible to the touch, and the absence of a true anti -reflective treatment amplifies its presence with direct light. However, it is the use of the apps that emerge a limit: many are not optimized for this form factor and end up exploiting the space badly, with black bands or centered content. Streaming platforms, for example, often offer a less immersive experience than you would expect.
On the contrary, those who do multitasking will find the perfect fold7: the One UI 8 interface based on Android 16 fully uses the internal space to support two or three apps together. With the addition of the Galaxy AI functions, such as the “circle and search” and Gemini, the experience is even more fluid: discrete popups, intelligent windows and productivity management that has no rivals in the Android world. Accompanied by captivating graphics.
Performance and battery
Under the body there is the Snapdragon 8 Jan 3 “Elite”, which guarantees solid performance even under stress. The device warms slightly, especially close to the camera sector, but never annoying. The audio is excellent, with two balanced speakers designed for use horizontally.
The real compromise, however, is the battery: 4400 mAh divided into two cells are not enough for a day full of use, especially with an internal screen and active multitasking. With the standard performance profile, you barely get to dinner; With the “light” profile, they earn 30-40 minutes more, but wonders are not made. The recharging is also slow: 25W with wire -up wire and refill, but long times (almost two hours to reach 90%).
Cameras

Fold 7 has five cameras: three rear and two fronts. The Under Display Camera disappears in favor of a classic 10 Mpx hole, which guarantees better results. The main sector sees a 200 Mpx sensor as on the ultra, an ultra wide angle of 12 and a 10 telephoto lens. The optical zoom is a 3x, the digital one a 30x. Result: the photos are good in almost all conditions, portraits, night with light, backlight. The telephoto lens gives a little at night, but the overall yield is above the average for a folding.
The price
We arrive at the critical point: this type of devices still have a significant cost: the three available versions (12+256, 12+512 and 16+1TB) start from 2199 euros to get to 2619. Then, with promotions and trade-in you can go down to 1099, but the discussion still remains (also because getting there is a bit complicated). Since, for example, the 7 -year warranty does not include zipper and screen: and in any case because the battery does not guarantee a duration of use that users are now expected, especially from a very high range product (speech that also involves the iPhones).
Conclusion: the best folding, but not for everyone

It remains that Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is undoubtedly the best folding on the market today: finally compact design, impeccable interface, excellent performance.
The artificial intelligence features proposed are those of the Galaxy S25, and therefore those who buy it will find smart assistants, automatic translations, advanced features. Can you improve? Of course, we wrote it. But with this new version the road seems traced.
