The turning point is approaching as regards the production of smartphone And tablet. Starting from the date of the 20 June 2025, The producers of these electronic devices that have now become an integral part of the newspaper will have to adapt to respect the new rules established by the European Union. The legislation will in fact concern all the devices sold within the EU territory, and will therefore also be valid for those companies that produce abroad.
A decision, that ofEuropean Unionwhich will inevitably affect smartphones and tablets market, but which has been taken to “lengthen” the longevity of the devices. But what do these rules consist of?
Compulsory energy label
First of all we have the obligation to apply alabel – as already happens for other appliances – which certifies energy efficiency, durability and reparactability. The labels must be easily readable on the packaging, as well as available in electronic format, in the case of online purchase. Up to be present, fundamental information must be present, such as energy efficiency, duration of a battery cycle, battery life in cycles, level of dust resistance, water sketches and accidental falls and degree of reparactability of the electronic device.
Durability
Another fundamental feature is that of durabilitywhich must be guaranteed. The devices that will be sold after the date of June 20 must guarantee a longer duration of the battery. The number of complete charging cycles will be evaluated before it goes below the 80% threshold of its original capacity, considering that they must be at least 800. Other fundamental characteristics are the time used to obtain a complete recharge and then the residual capacity of the battery after 500 complete cycles. All this will give an idea of the longevity of the device. Add to this that the devices must be resistant to falls, water and a series of damage. The efficiency of the products will be evaluated with a score ranging from A to G.
Reparactability
Finally, always to try to stretch the life of the devices, smartphones will have to be easy repair. This involves a greater availability of spare parts on the market that allowing recovery and restoration works. This rule, in addition to being in favor of citizens, will allow you to reduce the amount of electronic waste.
Device producers must therefore facilitate repair procedures, guaranteeing spare parts available up to 7 years after the release of a certain piece.
Eco -friendly design
Another inaverite rule is that relating to the creation of new devices taking into account the materials, which will have to be easily recyclable, in compliance with theenvironment.
