This is immoral. Landmines are a horrible thing. The ones that the US will deliver to Ukraine are slightly less horrible because after a certain period of time they self-destruct, and for this reason, I read, they are not prohibited by international treaties. They remain a future threat as wellespecially for civilians.
So far in the Russo-Ukrainian war, a very high number of civilians have been killed, certainly over a thousand, perhaps many more. And they are all Ukrainians. Ukraine appears to have them scattered around just one city, Izium, in 2022. Russia has used them everywhereof 13 different types, from the beginning of the “special mission” until yesterday, today.
So how the hell does it happen that only yesterday we read at the beginning of the Pressnot only on that of Turin, such an alarmed cry, “Ukraine, horror anti-personnel mines”, and in the vehement editorial of Domenico Quirico“If the anxiety of victory erases every prohibition”, such tragically appropriate words?
