Small, easy to handle, beautiful, designed for those who use it on the move albeit not without some flaws, the cheapest of the range. And the Surface Laptop Go 3 That Microsoft He sent us on trial.
Let's start fromunboxing. In the – essential – package we find a very compact charger with Surface Connect, with a proprietary and magnetic attachment. The laptop is light, compact and transportable, but very solid, with an elegant design thanks to the aluminum finishes. From the first impact, the target audience is clear. It is in fact designed for use at home, in the office, but also on the move by those who do not need who knows what programs (Office package, navigation, email checking, etc.). Right from the start we have the feeling that, despite its lightness, it is a device suitable for being a little roughed up.
The display
That the use for which it is designed is office use is also confirmed by touch display 12.4-inch PixelSense Flow with a resolution of 1536 x 1024 pixels and an aspect ratio of 3:2, perfect for navigation and the use of Office programs because it has more vertical space. And it's easy to open even with one hand. Even the 720p camera may not seem ideal, but the performance is overall good for the general user and the performance in classic work calls is not affected at all. Also thanks to the artificial intelligence that Microsoft is focusing on with Copilot.
The keyboard
Beautiful there keyboard: it is comfortable, functional and noise-free. Too bad it isn't backlit, which would make it easier to use in the dark. We did not detect any problems even with the touchpad and the fingerprint reader, both precise and sensitive at the right point. Another small flaw, i connectors: the Surface Laptop Go 3 only has a traditional USB, a USB-C (which also allows charging for example from a docking station) and the classic headphone jack. A few more doors wouldn't have gone amiss.
Battery
After a few days of testing, however, we can say that the sector drums keeps its promises: compared to the 15 hours declared by Microsoft, we were able to work for an entire day without having to recharge the device. Things probably change for those who need more intensive use, but for a general user it is more than sufficient. Furthermore, the processor – an Intel Core i5 – is fast and does not heat up excessively, also thanks to the 16 GB of RAM mounted on the version under test (the basic model has 8). The 256 GB of non-expandable SSD memory are perplexing, as they may not be enough, especially for those who don't like using the cloud.
The final judgement
Let's get to the price. Surface Laptop Go 3, available only in platinum color, has a list price of 909 euros for the 8 GB version of RAM and 1159 euros for the 16 GB one, but you can also find it in stores starting from 700 euros.
This is definitely a laptop suitable for those who do classic office work and don't need performance for graphics or gaming programs. Its solidity and compactness make it ideal especially for those who work on the move or often transport it from the office to home.
