Until today, by its own admission Georgie Melons, the government intervened in the budget by placing all available resources (not many, to be honest) on medium-low incomes. A way to help the weakest in the face of galloping inflation but which, as we have repeatedly pointed out on this site, risked cutting off a large portion of the electorate which provided the centre-right with quite a few votes: those who pay over 50 thousand euros , who are not rich and who on balance pay 62.5% of total taxes.
“After having reduced the Irpef for the lower middle class – says al Courier the deputy minister of Economy, Maurice Leo — we must think of those with a taxable income of over 50 thousand euros who, between the 43% rate and additional taxes, pay more than 50%. We will reduce their personal income tax in relation to the resources available.”
The motto of Georgie Melons after all it is clear: “The taxman must be a friend” and taxes “are never nice”. If they even exceed 50% they become hateful.
