The crash a few seconds from the take -off: the first EU satellite launch test failed

The first orbital rocket launched by continental Europe crashed to the ground after a few seconds of flight. The take-off of the Spectrum rocket of the German start-up Isar Aerospace took place from the base of Andoya in Norway, in the Arctic.

What happened

Immediately after the take -off, broadcast live on social media, the Spectrum rocket began to oscillate. He turned and fell back to the ground, generating a powerful explosion. The launch had been postponed several times due to adverse weather conditions.

Isar Aerospace had declared that he had little hope of reaching the Earth’s orbit to the first attempt. “Every second of flight is precious, because it allows us to collect data and acquire experience” explained Daniel Metzler, co-founder and head of the German start-up.
