According to an FBI report, Russia is planning targeted assassinations in countries that support Ukraine, such as the United States and European states. The warning from the US federal authorities is contained in an indictment made public by the court in Manhattan (New York).
The plans
There are five people wanted in the United States for alleged connections with Russian secret services. These people would be part of a network, paid by Russian intelligence, to monitor, and if necessary kill, individuals designated as targets. But the requests would not end there. The interlocutors were allegedly asked to carry out acts of terrorism against civilian and military infrastructure.
The FBI statement claims that from at least 2024 a group of people would have conspired to carry out attacks and murders in different parts of the world. At the beginning, the secret service dossier claims, the network focused only on Russian dissidents and defectors. Now we would have moved on to another phase which includes among the objectives citizens of countries allied with Ukraine.
The indictment released by the Manhattan court states that a person identified only as “US Resident-1” was instructed to surveil the intended victim with the promise of payments of $1,000 and $1,500. After gathering all the necessary information, the US resident refused the $40,000 offered to “eliminate” or “disappear” the target.
