On April 15 the First World Day of Contact Lensesan international initiative dedicated precisely to celebrate the invention that has changed the visual quality and sometimes also of life, to millions of people all over the world.
The day, promoted by EuromContact, the European Association that represents the industry of contact lenses, and in Italy as a solo contactology group, born with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of this innovation and on its positive impact in daily life, falls on April 15 is the day of the birth of Leonardo da Vincithe universal genius that in 1508 conceived the idea that laid the foundations for the development of modern contact lenses.
“The first world day of contact lenses marks a historical moment for the sector and for millions of bearers,” said Filippo Pau, President’s Assotic President of the Contactology Group. “We celebrate an extraordinary invention that not only has revolutionized the way we see the world, but has also become a symbol of innovation and continuous progress”.
Throughout the month of April, the first world day of contact lenses will be celebrated with a series of events and activities throughout Italy, in the participating optical centers, to bring the public closer to the world of contact lenses and the culture of visual well -being. Fitting session and information meetings will be organized to help people choose the most suitable visual solution to their needs. Because for conscious use, the support of the contactologist is essential: the professional guides in the choice of the most suitable lens and provides precious indications for visual well -being.
“Promoting a correct management of this tool means safeguarding not only the quality of vision, but also the eye health of those who use them daily” said the president of the Italian Society of Ophthalmological Sciences (Sisa), Teresio Avitabile.
“The first world day of contact lenses is an important opportunity to reflect on the technological progress that have made lenses more and more sophisticated and accessible. Today not only a medical device is celebrated, but also a tool that, correctly used, opens new perspectives in daily life, improving the visual quality and contributing significantly to the well -being and independence of the wearer,” said Alessandra Balestrazzi, president of the Italian Association of Medici Association Oculists (Aimo).
