Now it’s official. The INPS informs that the amount of the monthly contribution of the income of freedom for women victims of violence and in need has been increased to 530 euros per month, in implementation of the interministerial decree of 17 September 2025, for a maximum of twelve months, within the limits of available resources. In a circular, the Social Security Institute specifies that applications accepted in 2025 will be subject to an integration of the amount. The contribution was equal to 400 euros per month in 2023 and 2024 and 500 euros in 2025: the latter amount will be integrated.
Freedom income funds
The integration will be carried out using state resources or regional resources transferred to finance the measure. Once the integration of the applications accepted in 2025 has been completed, the INPS, we read in a note, will proceed to arrange the payment of the applications presented in 2026, always within the limits of the resources available, communicating this to the interested parties. The total resources allocated to the benefit for the current year amount to 16.5 million euros.
INPS reminds you that applications submitted by 31 December 2025 and not accepted due to insufficient resources are lapsed, but can be resubmitted from 1 January to 31 December 2026 to access the contribution this year.
Municipalities and demand
Specifically, the application is sent to INPS exclusively through the Municipalities, which must send only the applications for which they have previously verified possession of the requirements and the validity and completeness of the data indicated in the form, including the existence of the state of need and the continuation of the path to escape from violence. The condition of poverty, linked to a state of extraordinary or urgent need, is declared by the local professional social service. For the application to be sent to INPS, women must be followed by an anti-violence center recognized by the Region and by a social service.
The freedom income is an economic contribution intended for women victims of violence, with or without children, followed by anti-violence centers and social services. It is aimed at women residing in Italian territory, whether they are Italian citizens, EU citizens or citizens of a non-EU state in possession of a regular residence permit, including foreigners with the status of political refugees or subsidiary protection. They must be in a condition of poverty, linked to a state of extraordinary or urgent need, declared by the local professional social service, followed by an anti-violence center recognized by the Region and by a social service.
It is a contribution aimed at supporting women in their escape from violence, promoting residential and personal autonomy and the educational and training path of their minor children. It has a maximum amount of 530 euros per month, granted in a single payment for a maximum of 12 months. It is compatible with other support tools such as the inclusion allowance.
Starting from January 1st of each year, women who meet the requirements, including those whose application submitted by December 31st of the previous year was “not accepted due to insufficient budget”, can submit the application through the relevant Municipalities. The application to access the freedom income for the current year must be submitted using the “SR208” form, called “freedom income application” (here is the link).
To access the contribution, the legal representative of the anti-violence center that took care of the woman must certify in the application the path of emancipation and autonomy undertaken. The social service must certify the state of need linked to the extraordinary or urgent situation. Municipalities send the complete application to INPS using the service available on the “transmission of applications, instructions and social benefits software” page. Through the service they can acquire the unique code which shows the date and time the application was sent, determining the order in the regional ranking, for acceptance within the limits of available resources.
Applications not accepted due to budget insufficiency may be accepted later, by 31 December of the year of submission, within the limits of further available resources, otherwise they will be definitively forfeited and may be resubmitted the following year.
