The world of digital payments on the net, and in particular Pay Palcould be in danger. The exponential growth of Online scams who are hitting the accounts of Pay Pal is worrying and 2025 numbers seem to confirm this trend. Recently a new scam system was born which, through a false email, has the aim of obtaining the information access to the cons and, as if that were not enough, being able to have the sensitive data of the potential victims.
The last spoofing campaign was based on a lap of e-mail in which affected users were encouraged to update their access information within 48 hours. A sort of fake threat: if you don’t update the account – this is the message of the email – your account will be suspended. Too bad that, as often happens in these cases, the button with written “Update your Pay Pal account” Bring the user directly to a clone site where you can enter your access data. And that’s it: the cybercriminal cpsì manage to obtain credentials by acting undisturbed. But the worrying data does not end here: the McAfee Labs security company has revealed that a paypal spoofing campaign is underway capable of generating more than 600 false emails in a single day.
You can defend these emails. The first alarm bell is the domain of e -mail. If it is legitimate, the domain will end with @Paypal.com. On the contrary, most likely, the user could be in front of an online scam.
Another useful advice to protect yourself is two -factor authentication, which will prohibit access to third parties even if they be able to obtain the profile password, as you will first be sent a unique code via SMS.
