The United States Coast Guard has found debris in the sea belonging to a medical transport plane that disappeared off the coast of Massachusetts while flying from Bermuda to Boston. There is still no news of the six people on board. In the early hours of Saturday 3 October, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) informed the Coast Guard that it had lost contact with a Gulfstream G100.
Then the dramatic epilogue. “The Coast Guard search teams have identified an area of debris dispersion, the origin of which from the missing plane has been confirmed – we read in a note from the US Coast Guard -. The teams are continuing the search for the six people who were on board the aircraft”. The Coast Guard has scheduled a press conference in the next few hours to provide updates on the incident.
It was a medical flight
The plane was carrying four Canadian citizens and two Bermudians, the coast guard said. The aircraft, operated by the Canadian company Latitude air ambulance, disappeared around 1.30 am (7.30 am in Italy), company spokesperson Clarence Togeretz told AFP. “There were two pilots, two members of medical staff, a patient and a family member on board,” Togeretz specified.
The company has a fleet of ten aircraft that offer repatriation and medical evacuation services, bringing people home from all over the world, according to the company website.
