Dear director,
I read with a certain dismay of the intervention of the Europeaniary Ilaria Salis at the Alta Happiness Festival in Val di Susa. At that time he expressed words of affection and support for the No Tav movement, notoriously the protagonist in the years of episodes of violence, clashes with the police, sabotage and assorted illegality.
I ask myself, and I ask her: but a representative of the European institutions, who should give the good example and defend the rule of law, can afford to take sides on the side of militant illegality, perhaps in the name of a fake pacifism and ragant? Do you not like director, that Salis is yet another red flag agitated against legality?
Francesco Conti
Dear Francesco,
You write me indignant and I, this time, am more indignant than you. Because the Salis case is not a trivial political provocation, but a living paradox. An institutional short circuit. An insult to common sense. Let’s talk clearly: Ilaria Salis is not only an European Elywed elected in the last breath with the life jacket of immunity. It is the tragic and farcical symbol of an ideology that has made illegality a virtue and delinquency a flag. Let’s not forget, because you and I have memory, that this lady managed to get to Brussels despite hanging an accusation on her in Hungary. Instead of facing the trial like any civil citizen, he preferred to take refuge in the European Parliament, making his own incrimination a heroic narrative, from Che Guevara as a discount. But then here it is, fresh from armchair, not to work for citizens, but to go to beat their hands to those who throw stones against the carabinieri. Because Salis applauds the No Tav movement, not civil dissent, but the violent, screaming, insulting one. That of the Molotov in the woods. Of the urban guerrilla. Yet he has the courage to present himself as “spokesperson for the oppressed”, when in reality it is the testimonial of the abuse. Official sponsor of intolerance, of a minority ideology, but screamed, unable to build but very good at destroying.
Not a word on the law enforcement officers, on the attached barracks, on the houses occupied illegally (which seem to be the minimum union of social justice for her). On the other hand, he tells us that the prison should be overcome. Certain. Because the only model of civilization by certain left is the jungle. Where everything is allowed except to defend the state. Salis does not want to improve justice. He wants to delete it. It does not propose rights, proposes anarchy. His political curriculum is a collage of slogans from the social center. And the style with which he presents himself, hoods, rainbow and Palestinian flags, closed punches, is worthy of those who believe that the revolution is an abusive occupation, and legality a form of bourgeois oppression.
The problem is not only that Salis is on the wrong side. The problem is that he doesn’t even know where the right one is.
And the most disturbing thing is that all this does it from within an institution, paid by taxpayers, who used as a shield to avoid a process, and then run to bless the usual antagonists of the social centers. Ultimately, Salis is the perfect incarnation of a left that hates the state but is salary from it, which despises the rules but uses them to protect themselves, who asks for justice but applaud those who trample it.
I tell you the truth, dear Francesco: Salis should not sit in a parliament, rather it should be questioned
on his ideas outside reality. Or maybe brought on a trip among the families of the police injured from the companions that she is so Osanna.
And then he would see that his high happiness would seem like a sad farce.
