Smiles and joy were the common denominator of the love story between Nancy Brilli And Max Ghini. Both actors, Massimo and Nancy met on the set of a fiction and six months later they were already husband and wife. Despite their affection, the union fell apart in 1990, three years after the “yes”, without hard feelings and today Ghini and Brilli are still on excellent terms.
Love at first sight on the set
It’s 1987. Nancy Brilli is 23 years old and is one of the new faces of Italian cinema. She is in the cast of the miniseries “Dog’s nose” and worked alongside Dario Argento in “Demons 2… The Nightmare Returns”. Massimo Ghini, 33, is already a well-known name in TV and cinema. Alberto Lattuada chooses them to play Sergio Barberi and Monique Garlin in the new fiction for the small screen “Two brothers”. On the set of the miniseries the feeling between Nancy and Massimo is immediately strong and away from the cameras the two are very close. “The first meeting? He entered the wrong dressing room, we were both in our underwear”Nancy will reveal years later when talking about Massimo. And that comical incident marks their life.
The flash wedding proposal
Nancy is not indifferent to Massimo’s charm, but what overwhelms her most is his irony. The two actors spend several weeks on the set of the miniseries and love overwhelms them. Nancy and Massimo do nothing to hide their relationship which, despite having just blossomed, undergoes a sudden acceleration. After just six months, in fact, Ghini makes the proposal of surprise wedding to Nancy. “He went to ask my father for my hand. It’s probably the most embarrassing moment in my father’s life. He wanted to do everything right like he used to. He gave me a beautiful gift because Massimo is very generous”, Brilli will tell L’Arena, years later. “I think he went around half the shops in Rome. In the end, he bought me this light fixture. I accepted it, I was very happy but then I went to return it because we didn’t have a penny between us.“, concluded the actress.
Marriage and movies together
Nancy and Massimo get married in Rome in the presence of family and friends.”We got married for joy. We were happy together, we laughed a lot”Nancy confesses to the magazines of the time. But after a short honeymoon the two immediately return to the set, once again together, directed by Carlo Verdone, who chooses them both to act in the comedy “Classmates“, released in 1988. The following years are full of big projects for both of them in film and television. Nancy stars in ““Small misunderstandings” by Ricky Tognazzi and “Italy – Germany 4-3” by Andrea Barzini, in which Massimo also stars, who in the meantime is busy at the theater. The gossip press takes for granted the arrival of a child for the couple, but in reality Massimo and Nancy will never have a child.
The farewell three years after the “yes”
Like a bolt from the blue, in 1990, the couple announced their farewell. No crisis had raised suspicions of an impending divorce, which instead put an end to the marriage definitively. The reasons for the breakup were not revealed, but years later both had their say on the reasons for the farewell. “Nancy and I loved each other very much, then the work we do led us to be more and more distant and to take different paths, without conflicts. In fact, we remained very good friends“, Massimo Ghini revealed to Tv Sorrisi e canzoni, while Nancy Brilli, a few months later, in the Vieni da Me studio confessed: “The marriage wasn’t bad, it was just short. He was a very kind man. exuberantvery welcoming to all“.
Massimo Ghini and Nancy Brilli today
Despite the divorce, Nancy Brilli and Massimo Ghini have remained on excellent terms, so much so that in 2016, the two actors agreed to act together in “Marriage and other follies“, getting married again
but only for fiction. Today, after a second marriage and a child, Nancy Brilli is linked to the entrepreneur Pupi D’Angieri while Massimo Ghini has been married for twenty years to the costume designer Paola Romano.
