Certain topics must be handled with care because the news is clogged with atrocious abuse against women. But it is precisely when we think about those abuses and those women that we remain incredulous when we learn of armies of ladies (housewives, workers, married, engaged…) who voluntarily (it seems) hand themselves over to the sex guru Shivananda in the hope, they say, to be treated. Francesco Grassi, a former riding instructor, “works” in an Ashram (community) and claims he can heal with sex. He explains to his patients that he possesses “a divine gift” and convinces them to have sex with him.
One of the followers said that after the “sessions”, they all re-emerge more “beautiful” and “feminine”. The media covered it as if it were a shady affair, but we suspect a much more banal plot in which the “cure” is called “adultery”, the patients are “bored” and the “divine gift”, “orgasm”.
