At the Rocca Roveresca in Senigallia inaugurated the exhibition “The form of gold. Stories of jewelry from ancient Italy”, edited by Massimo Osanna (General Manager of Museums) and Luana Toniolo (director of the Etruscan National Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome). Set up in theaters Renaissance of the Rovesca and national scope, the exhibition proposes a selection of valuable archaeological testimonies from various parts of Italy: you can admire Over 400 finds of ornamental productions in peninsular Italy and in Sardinia from prehistory to early Middle Ages. Thanks to the commitment of Luigi Gallo, director of Palazzo Ducale di Urbino – Regional National Museums Marche- and its staff, the exhibition will be visible on two floors of the Rocca by constituting the first appointment after the adjustment, implementation and energy efficiency of the air conditioning plants at the service of the exhibition rooms made with the funds of the PNRR, with which the monument of the fifteenth century is now adequate to the current standards. Museums. “The exhibition that opens in the ancient fortress of Senigallia – affirm the director Gallo – shows first of all that with the synergistic work of various institutes, the Italian museums know how to network to enhance and promote our extraordinary heritage, transmitting it to future generations; in addition, the exhibition certifies once more how important it is that the museum, as well as a privileged place of exposure, also assert itself as an environment dedicated to scientific research: living space to infinite opportunities for knowledge “

The project is the result of the scientific collaboration between the former regional Directions Museums of Sardinia, Campania, Calabria, Molise, Marche, Puglia, Basilicata and the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, in a project of the national museum system, which allows you to enhance the riches and treasures of many museums. The exhibition event is at its third stage: the first appointment was at the National Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum “Giovanni Antonio Sanna” in Sassari, then at the Archaeological Museum of Santa Maria delle Monache of Isernia. It should be emphasized that the Marche stage inserts two stylistic figures pursued by the Rocca in recent years in the exhibition: attention to an accessible use, thanks to the reproduction of some finds and the dialogue with the awarded Senigallian reality of the title of photography, thanks to a small photographic exhibition in close dialogue with the finds on display. A precious exhibition. The jewel has always been an expression of identity, complement of seduction and beauty, a sign of ties, customs and fashions. Lowing, incorruptible, precious, gold is a noble material in which to shape elaborate ornaments. But the art of adorning is also made up of other metals, such as bronze, iron, silver and, moreover, of gems and vitre pastes, organic compounds such as amber, shells, bones and teeth of animals, which tell a long history of experiments and technological conquests, of aesthetic taste, of artisan creativity. And at the same time it is the story of lively contacts among the people of the ancient Mediterranean, where the exchanges of goods are associated with ideologies, behaviors, customs and rites in an amalgam full of cultural contaminations. The rich selection of objects of great historical-archaeological value, on display in Senigallia until next December 8, 2025, allows a fascinating geographical and temporal journey in ancient Italy, from prehistory to early Middle Ages, Between ornaments and jewels that bring with them, not only beauty and uniqueness, but also symbolic values related to the areas of sacred, magic, power and social prestige, attributed in the past to these objects that still arouse attraction and wonder in those who look at them.
