The Tower of Jesus, which with its over 170 meters represents the highest point of the monument, is destined to become the symbol of the final phase of the works on the basilica, the unfinished masterpiece which continues to be built following the original project of the Catalan architect.
After more than 140 years since the start of work in 1882, the Sagrada Familia is still very close to the configuration imagined by its creator: some important elements are still missing to be built.
The Glory façade – the largest and most important according to the original project – which will be the main entrance to the basilica and will tell the story of man’s journey towards God, with references to heaven, hell, sin and redemption. And then a large staircase that should connect the temple to the city. This is one of the most controversial points because the historic project would imply significant changes to the surrounding urban structure and could involve already existing buildings.
