The Wide Shot? A Political Orgy

Dear Director Feltri,
the secretary of the Democratic Party at the national Unity festival in Reggio Emilia said that the broad field must prepare to govern. But are they there or are they pretending? Every day, within this hypothetical field, the various leaders attack each other, stab each other, offend each other, discredit each other, fly rags, and do they really think they can get together to lead the country?
Marinella Germani

Dear Marinella,
the funniest thing is that these same leaders, who argue from morning to night, claim that the majority is divided, split, and the government, consequently, ready to shatter. Which is absolutely false, because this executive is in excellent health and is destined to last until the end of the legislature. Naive to believe that it would have faltered because of the teeth of Mrs. Boccia, of whom I still have not understood why, if she really is, as she boasts, a successful entrepreneur, organizer of events, of big events, let’s specify, influencer in the style of Chiara Ferragni of the poor, she has demanded so fiercely that ministerial appointment, or the recognition of the role of advisor to the Minister of Culture. Moreover, we are talking about a woman who should receive advice and not give it, given that she is very capable of harming herself very well. Forgive this digression. So no, Boccia, who has something for everyone, has dashed the hopes of the left that trusted in her (think how bad they are): she hasn’t brought down the government, but she has made us lose our balls, or our balls, call them what you want, those of us Italians, who for weeks have suffered the failed councilor and her inconsistent allusions, which undoubtedly configure the crimes of slander and aggravated defamation. Returning to the minefield, sorry, the wide field, that Giuseppe Conte calls a “cohesive field” and then, after 24 hours or so, calls Matteo Renzi a businessman, it is clear that this is a project, or rather an aspiration that has already failed from the start. The wisest was Carlo Calenda who, a few days ago, in an interview I read in some newspaper, explained that the broad field would inevitably lead to unstable and ineffective governments, precisely because of the irreconcilable positions between the various parties that would compose it and the high level of quarrelsomeness among those who, as elections approach, always pretend to love each other so much, except to hide knives under their jackets. Furthermore, it should be considered that the glue of this political orgy would not be, and in fact is, anything other than the intention, moreover brazenly declared, to oppose the right, to defeat it, they also say to “overthrow fascism”, or to “remove fascists from the institutions”. Does it seem to you that this glue is enough to offer Italians a valid and credible political alternative? The left forgets that at elections you show up with the program and not with the slogan that is most popular on that side: Fascism alert, and singing Bella ciao.

Progressives chatter exclusively about minimum wage, fascism, racism, sexism, homophobia, surrogate motherhood, common-law unions, gay adoptions, freedom to self-identify as any gender, open borders, acceptance, fight against patriarchy, another phantom waved, ius soli, fight against climate change through the spread of scooters and

access bans to areas C and B. But where are the big issues that interest Italians, families, workers, the middle class, small and medium-sized businesses, the elderly, young people?

All this did not arrive.
