There is family and family - the newspaper

Sorry, but we just can’t stomach this whole God, Homeland and right-wing familism thing. All these brothers-in-law, comrades, sisters and brothers of Italy. What the hell is this? No, really. At least until we have to settle our children somewhere, we dissociate ourselves.

But then does the right really have to do it? Let the left of De Luca (a clan) or Franceschini (husband and wife) or Fratoianni (wife and husband) do it. The left can. With the tradition it has behind it! But do you remember the Berlinguer dynasty? Also related to both Francesco Cossiga and Antonio and Mario Segni; two Presidents of the Republic, just like that, right away…

Anyway. Mario Berlinguer was a senator from 1948 to ’53, and then a member of parliament for three legislatures from ’53 to ’68. His two sons were: Enrico, the incarnation of the First Republic, a member of parliament from ’68 to ’84, as well as a member of the European Parliament from ’79 to ’92; and Giovanni, a member of parliament for three legislatures from ’72 to ’83, a senator for two from ’83 to ’92, and also a member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2009.

But then there was his nephew Luigi, deputy, MEP and multiple minister of University and Public Education; and Bianca, daughter of Enrico, political journalist from 1991 to today, from the First to the Second Republic, from Rai to Mediaset, partner of Luigi Manconi, former senator and undersecretary of Justice, and sister-in-law of Luca Telese, who among other things from October 1st – will be the director of the daily newspaper Il Centro: continuing, it is assumed, to host on La7.

Because it is true that relatives are not chosen; but positions are accumulated.
