The latest statements by US President Donald Trump sound like: “I told you so”. The tycoon, who has always been an opponent of the migration phenomenon, was asked about what is happening in Europe where the main squares are animated by demonstrations against high prices and wars. Processions which very often degenerate into clashes with the authorities or which leave room for troublemakers and hooligans. For the president they are nothing more than yet another demonstration of how the old continent has failed to manage the various waves of migrants.
“These are people who hate”
“Look at what they are doing to Europe. A month ago, hundreds of thousands of people poured into Spain. I said ‘this is going to become a problem’. Those people who have lived in Spain for hundreds of years, with their families and generations behind them, look at what is coming into their country. They are angry people,” he told Fox News.
“But the ones who are causing the problems are people who hate Spain, hate France and hate Italy. And they’re not originally from those countries,” Trump added. Who then underlined: “Someone said ‘they hate their art, they hate their buildings, they hate everything about France, they hate the people’. Yet they let them in.”
“I told Macron that he is destroying France”
But Trump’s barbs focused on the occupant of the Elysée: “I told Macron: you are destroying France. You are letting in people who hate your country.” The president of the United States said he had warned the French president already at the beginning of his mandate. “When I arrived, I met him almost immediately and told him he was destroying France.”
