Trump's 10 billion lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal rejected, the president doesn't give up: "It's not a filing"

“This is not an archiving, but rather the suggestion of a new filing.” Thus US President Donald Trump dampens the news arriving from Florida: a judge has rejected the lawsuit brought against the Wall Street Journal. The tycoon had asked the publisher Rupert Murdoch for damages of at least 10 billion dollars because he believed he had been defamed by the article which cited his greeting card to the pedophile billionaire among the Epstein files.

The “rejected” case

In an article dated July 17, 2025 the Wsj reported Trump’s name in a “birthday book” given to Epstein in 2003. According to the US newspaper, the president included a drawing of a female body in the message. District Judge Darrin Gayles said Trump had failed to prove “even remotely” that the Wall Street Journal acted with actual malice, which is a requirement for filing a defamation lawsuit in the United States.

The case was dismissed without prejudice, thus allowing the US president to file a new amended complaint by April 27. “The judge has requested a re-filing of our strong case against The Wall Street Journal and the other defendants. This is not a dismissal, but rather a recommendation for re-filing; therefore, in compliance with the Order, we will re-file an updated case by April 27,” the president wrote in Truth.
