Victims of the climate… And of superficiality

Dear Feltri Director,
here we go again. After the tragedy on the Natisone, where three young people lost their lives, last Saturday, in the early afternoon, this time along the Brenta river, near Padua, two young people, while crossing the river, were overwhelmed by the current. And they had a very bad time. In short, they risked dying. Only by a miracle were the two rescued safely from the water. This thanks to the intervention of the firefighters, the Alpini, the Carabinieri and a helicopter with divers on board, which left Venice.
Perhaps, due to climate change, we will see similar events more and more often and sometimes it won't go so well.
What do you think?
Serafino Bianchi

Dear Serafino,
obviously it is easy to always blame climate change, which has now become the scapegoat of incompetent and negligent politicians and also of brainless people, who, defying nature and even fate, venture into situations of evident danger, putting their own lives at risk. skin and also forcing the community to deploy forces and means that could be useful in other ways and elsewhere. Furthermore, these interventions have very high economic costs. Therefore, considering that, by adopting a minimum of prudence, we would avoid finding ourselves at the mercy of a river or stream in flood upstream, this is a waste of public money caused by the thoughtlessness and stupidity of certain individuals. We feel sorry for the dead. God forbid. But it would be appropriate to specify that people frequently go looking for it, they are not victims of the crazy climate but of their own superficiality. But do you think you can swim across a river? Or a picnic on the bed of a stream while it's raining?

The idiot on duty never fails. I remember what happened last August: four hikers climbed the mountain up to two thousand meters wearing rubber sandals as if they were on the beach. Idiocy which led to the intervention of the Alpine Rescue, who went to recover them with the helicopter as they remained stuck along a landslide section, since with inappropriate footwear it was a continuous slip with the risk of falling to pieces. Things like this happen often.

Let's be clear: there is also the freedom to be an idiot, but not at our expense, thank you. Also for this reason the costs of the air ambulance are borne by the person who calls it.

In any case, it is always the same story: there is a lack of sense of responsibility that should lead people, including very young people, to evaluate dangerous conditions by avoiding them and protecting themselves.

You don't need to have an IQ above average to understand that jumping into the river or lake, especially in bad weather, can lead to death, or that flip-flops are worn by the sea and not for trekking in the high mountains .

These bold young men take a bath in the pool or stroll on the shore.
