On August 26, 2010, in Avetrana, the fifteen year old Sarah Scazzi disappears into thin air. After 41 days his body is found in a well. For the crime, the cousin Sabrina Misseri and the aunt Cosima Serrano are sentenced to life imprisonment. Uncle Michele Misseri, who self -accused and then changed version several times, is sentenced to 8 years for the suppression of a corpse. Non -definitive sentences, doubts remain. The telephone cells place Sabrina and Cosima near the well the day after the disappearance. Sarah’s cell phone, partly burned, is found weeks later by Michele Misseri, who had hidden him. The hypothesized motive is jealousy for a boy, but it appears weak. The testimonies, at times contradictory and portrayed, contributed to generating sidetracks and shadow areas. In 2024 the European Court rejected the last appeal. The same year Michele returned free and reiterated that he was the only culprit. There is now talk of possible new analyzes on the DNA found under the nails of Sarah. After fifteen years, the truth about Avetrana remains, for many, still incomplete.
