"Vote my friend's daughter" but it's a trap: the new scam on WhatsApp

An absolute novelty still in the development phase, therefore not available even for beta testers, which will involve the public as never before: WhatsApp is working on the creation of quiz for Channels, i.e. those pages developed by companies and organizations that release information, news and updates.

How quizzes work

Users have known for some time that there is the possibility of creating surveys but quizzes will be a very different tool: Channel administrators will be able to create them with the aim of allowing people to test their knowledge on a specific topic. “Each quiz has only one correct answer, adding a sense of challenge and competition to the experience and making them more engaging than simple polls, as users are rewarded for selecting the correct option rather than simply sharing their opinion.” the experts explain WaBetaInfo who broke the news.

How they are created

As mentioned, the function is not yet available and will be released in future updates. Channel administrators will find the word “Quiz” on the attachment sheet: once selected, WhatsApp will open an interface similar to the one used for creating surveys but with some changes. The most obvious one will be the title of the creation screen that says “Create a quiz” instead of “Create a survey”. “Next to each answer option, the administrator can select a check mark to mark the option as correct. This ensures that each quiz has only one verified answer. Administrators can freely type the question, add as many answers as possible and choose the correct one”, the experts add.

More engaged followers

By sharing a quiz on any channel, users will be more involved in what is happening, interacting more at any time and making the channels more engaging. It is important to know that the quizzes are open to everyone, not just followers of that given channel and are designed to provide immediate feedback by showing whether the selected answer is correct or not. “When someone selects the correct answer, a short confetti animation appears on the screen to celebrate their success.”. Users will not be able to see how many participants have responded to the various options until they submit their response. This design encourages authentic engagement and prevents participants from being influenced by others’ choices.

In this way the advantages are for everyone: quizzes encourage friendly competition between

followers who are increasingly motivated to be put to the test and want to improve over time while the administrators of the various channels will be able to understand what the interests and levels of involvement of their audience are.
