The historical presence of the Woolrich brand in Bologna is definitively closed with the halt to activities in the city headquarters and the end of contracts for 78 employees. The crisis, which exploded last December after the acquisition of the brand by the Turin group BasicNet, ended with the merger of the operational functions in Turin.
The proposals to workers and the 100 thousand euro severance pay
This winter the workers were offered an incentivized transfer to Piedmont, or to stay at the Bologna or Milan sites until March 31, 2027. In the end, the closure in Bologna was brought forward and the majority of workers chose not to move. The trade union agreement, signed between the company and the acronyms Filcams Cgil, Fisascat Cisl and Uiltucs, envisaged an incentivized exit plan, commensurate with length of service, with amounts between 30 thousand and 100 thousand euros gross.
There are 78 total exits in the Emilian capital (64 minutes signed on 31 August and 14 early exits in July), while in Milan there are another 13. In terms of employment, the reorganization guarantees work continuity in Turin for 25 employees between the two offices and four managers.
“We express satisfaction at the fact that the union discussion has made it possible to guarantee exit conditions and economic protection for the people involved”, comment the union acronyms. Concern is expressed by PD deputy Andrea De Maria: “We are faced with a negative acceleration of a complex crisis: I am ready to take on any useful parliamentary initiative to support workers”.
