Scandal in Medjugorje. A vandal entered the pilgrimage site in Bosnia and Herzegovina and desecrated the church and statues surrounding the religious community. His actions were documented by the video surveillance system and now the local authorities are on his trail.
The damages
As reported by the website lalucedimaria.it, which was the first to publish the images of the vandalism, it could be the action of a group of people. In the video released online, a person can be seen approaching the external altar of the church of San Giacomo and setting fire which soon devours everything in its path.
Outside the structure, some photos document the desecrations perpetrated. Blasphemous writings cover the state of the Madonna: “Devil in a skirt” we read. The Virgin’s face is smeared with black paint. The desecrations, according to what has been reconstructed so far, would have occurred on the night between 27 and 28 July.
