Instagram and Facebook don’t work. Or at least not at all. Many social network users are reporting difficulties accessing the desktop version of the two platforms owned by Meta. Users who try to connect will see the message: “Account temporarily unavailable. Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect the situation to resolve shortly. Please try again in a few minutes.”
Meta in haywire, crash for Facebook and Instagram: users blocked from the desktop profile
The DownDetector portal recorded a sudden spike in reports and searches for the entry “Facebook down” just before 9:00 in the morning. The problem does not only concern Italy, but seems widespread. Users in the US, UK and other countries have also complained about the same difficulties. The Today account itself remained unreachable in its desktop version.
However, the problem seems to be being resolved for many users. In most cases, these temporary blocks are due to internal technical problems with the social media servers, errors during the release of source code updates or temporary disruptions in traffic routing systems (such as DNS systems or BGP protocols).
