It’s very close to the start of the Serie A championship and, for many Italian fans, it’s time to renew or sign up for a TV subscription to follow their favorite team from the sofa at home. But how much will Italian supporters spend this year? An analysis conducted by Facile.it on the prices of the Pay TV offer highlighted how for the 2026/2027 season fans must budget at least 669 euros to watch the Serie A championship and the Champions League. However, the figure rises up to 984 euros for those who choose the monthly subscription rather than the annual one.
Compared to the previous season, monthly rates have increased by 9.5%, while annual formulas have become more convenient, recording a decrease of 6%. Overall, the cost incurred by Italian enthusiasts remains lower than that of other European countries; in Spain, for example, the total expenditure for championships and cups is close to 1,400 euros.
The Italian teams
The price for following football on TV varies depending on the competitions in which your team is involved and, therefore, on the platforms to which you need to subscribe. If you are satisfied with the Serie A championship, 564 euros are sufficient if you choose the monthly subscription, 379 euros if you opt for the annual one.
The figure increases if, in addition to the national championship, you want to follow the European cups. Supporting Milan and Juventus from the sofa at home, who are playing in the Europa League, or Atalanta who will compete in the Conference League, means budgeting up to 924 euros with the monthly subscription, while for the annual one it is possible to find offers that allow you to limit spending to 619 euros.
Italian fans who want to follow Inter, Napoli, Roma and Como, involved in the Champions League, will instead have to spend, as mentioned, up to 984 euros with the monthly subscription, 669 euros if they choose the annual one.
“The annual subscription confirms itself as the most advantageous choice for those who want to follow the entire season without interruptions, especially recommended for those who are sure they want to follow football competitions until the end, regardless of the progress of their favorite team”, explain the experts at Facile.it. “The monthly solution, however, despite having a higher overall cost over the twelve months, offers the flexibility to cancel the subscription at any time”.
The European teams
Facile.it’s analysis also analyzed the prices of TV subscriptions across borders, in particular those applied in France, Germany, Spain and England, and discovered that we are among the luckiest on the continent.
As anticipated, the unluckiest are the Spanish fans who, to follow LaLiga and the European cups on TV this sporting season, will have to spend almost 1,400 euros on an annual subscription. The only advantage for Spain is that only one subscription is needed to follow all the competitions, while here you need to subscribe to multiple platforms.
English fans also spend more than Italian fans, who have to budget just over 900 euros for an annual season ticket to watch the Premier League and European competitions from home, while in Germany you need 864 euros to watch the championship and cups.
The French are decidedly luckier; following the Ligue 1 championship and European cups from home costs just 600 euros a year.
