New postponement for the Italian tax on mini-parcels from non-EU countries. The contribution, which should have come into force on October 1st, is postponed to December 1st 2026. This is what the draft decree being examined by the Council of Ministers provides. The postponement entails 40.8 million euros in lower revenue for the State.
The measure, introduced with the 2026 Budget Law, provides for a contribution of 2 euros on shipments with a value not exceeding 150 euros coming from non-EU countries: a rule therefore destined to mainly affect purchases made on the large Asian e-commerce platforms, such as Shein, Temu and AliExpress.
It’s not the first postponement. The entry into force had already been moved from 1 July to 1 October, officially also to allow coordination with the new European rules. Now comes a further two-month delay. The 40.8 million lost revenue indicated by the government corresponds, considering the 2 euros per shipment, to approximately 20.4 million mini-parcels that would have been taxed between October and November.
