Dyson has announced the arrival in Italy of the new Dyson R1 Nurovi Dry and Dyson R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry robot vacuum cleaners. Combining advanced sensors, intelligent software and leading Dyson cleaning technologies, both devices are designed to adapt to your home environment and deliver thorough cleaning, from fine dust and larger debris to edges and corners throughout your home.
Dyson’s key technologies
The new robots introduce key technologies from Dyson’s cordless vacuum cleaners in a smart, autonomous format. Acoustic dust detection, powered by a piezoelectric sensor, detects dust levels in real time and allows the robot to adapt suction accordingly, delivering power where it’s needed most.
The bagless charging station features eight powerful Dyson cyclones that hygienically empty dry debris after each cleaning, holding up to 90 days of dry waste within a sealed, hygienic system, so the robot doesn’t lose suction and maintains optimal performance with every use.
For the Dyson R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry robot vacuum cleaner, the charging station also automatically washes the Reuleaux triangle cloths using hot water at 75°C after each cleaning and dries them with hot air at 45°C, preventing the formation of mold and bad odors.
New triangle mop cloths from Reuleaux
Many robot mops rely on circular cleaning pads, which leave untreated spaces when cleaning corners. Inspired by the Reuleaux triangle, a geometric shape made up of three arcs of a circle, the new Dyson Reuleaux triangle mop pads, on board the R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry, maintain a constant width, moving fluidly like a circle as their angled ends extend towards edges and corners.
With a precise eccentric motion, the Dyson R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry robot vacuum cleaner maximizes contact with edges and corners for wall-to-wall coverage.
New Dyson Twin-capture system
The collection performance of a robot is the result of multiple factors that go beyond simple suction power. The brush and its interaction with dust and debris play a critical role in determining the collection capacity of the device. Larger debris is heavier and requires greater brushing force, while fine dust requires strong, constant, uninterrupted suction to be effectively captured.
The new Dyson Twin-capture system addresses this challenge by dividing the tasks. The brush bristles mechanically convey larger debris directly into the machine, reducing reliance on suction power, while the motor focuses on capturing fine dust and smaller particles. Combining mechanical collection with powerful, targeted suction, the new Twin-capture system allows Dyson robot vacuum cleaners to deliver efficient and consistent cleaning performance on different types of dirt.
New anti-tangle extendable side brush
Most robot side brushes simply push dust and debris into the airflow. This approach can be inconsistent and often scatters debris, while the traditional shape of the bristles causes hair and hair to tangle, requiring frequent maintenance. Dyson engineers wanted to overcome these limitations by rethinking both the structure and function of the side brush.
The result is a redesigned system with precision tilt and a flexible connector that actively controls brush pressure and direction. This ensures that dust and debris are guided into the airflow in a more controlled and efficient way, preventing them from blowing away whilst reducing hair and fur tangling around the bristles. The side brush on board the new robots also extends outwards to get closer to walls and reach corners, improving coverage in areas usually overlooked.
