“Why did you make transfers to your accounts?”. The question comes from Gianluca Vacchi, asked by the influencer entrepreneur in court regarding the actions of Pietro Oliva, his former domestic collaborator, accused of having stolen over 900 thousand euros from the entrepreneur’s assets. An affair involving the Porto Cervo villa of the famous influencer and which led Oliva, 55, to trial for aggravated embezzlement and self-laundering.
Vacchi testified on Monday 26 October before the Court of Tempio Pausania, in Sardinia, confirming the accusations contained in his complaint. “This story has saddened me a lot,” he declared as he left the courtroom.
The missing money and the 700 thousand euro lawsuit
Oliva had worked for over ten years under Vacchi, together with his wife, who had since died. The relationship was based on trust that allowed him to use the entrepreneur’s credit cards and bank balances to manage homes, travel and daily expenses.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, however, part of the money would have been used for personal purposes. The accusation concerns bank transfers, checks and bank transfers for almost one million euros, as part of overall movements exceeding three million.
The detail is that the alleged shortfall emerged during a labor dispute initiated by the former collaborator himself. As La Nuova Sardegna reconstructs, Oliva had sued Vacchi to obtain approximately 700 thousand euros in additional wages. The request was rejected at first instance and the civil proceedings are currently under appeal. During the accounting checks, the hole in the villa’s accounts was discovered.
The defense denies the charges
Oliva disputes the charges. His defenders maintain that the accusations are unfounded and, in particular, deny that the disputed transfers constitute self-laundering, since in their opinion they are traceable banking transactions. During his testimony, Vacchi explained that he had not personally taken care of the management of the residence’s accounts, which were entrusted to trusted people. The defense also questioned him about the cash withdrawals that the former collaborator allegedly made and then handed over the money to him. He then specified his desire “not to make any statements during the trial, also out of respect for the judge. However, I confirm, this affair has made me very saddened”.
The entrepreneur has become a civil party in the proceedings, which will resume on March 22, 2027 with the hearing of the prosecution witnesses.
