Banana botox, the army of influencers who spread peels on their faces to rejuvenate

Collagen to drink? Obsolete. The acmella oleracea? Passed. The latest trend in beauty and anti-aging treatments focuses entirely on bananas and in particular on the peel rich in antioxidants and vitamins. Too bad, however, that to promote this new one trend they are not experts in the beauty sector but rather popular influencers who, thanks to some videos, have made the “banana botox“.

How the “banana botox” trend was born

The phenomenon has caught on TikTok in recent months and in a short time it went viral on the Chinese platform thanks to a series of video contents published by some influencers with a large following, who transformed a banal test into a real viral phenomenon. The Indian influencer’s reel kicked off the “banana botox”. Byzareefawhich became popular on the web precisely for its beauty advice on the use of natural ingredients to keep the skin young. A few weeks ago the influencer shared a short with his fans moviein which he spoke about the benefits of banana peel, which would have an effect similar to that of botox by relaxing the features and toning the skin of the face. The video, followed by that of the VIP make-up artist Katie Jane Hugheswas viewed over 13 million times and was replicated by thousands of other followers, kicking off the “banana botox” trend.

How banana botox works

But how does banana botox work? Simply by rubbing the inside of the peel of the fruit on the face, insisting along the lines of expression and in the areas most subject to wrinkles and imperfections. By repeating the gesture for about five minutes, with a frequency of several times a week, those who have tried it assure that the results – skin more relaxed and fresher and more youthful appearance – you can see it. “As you can see my skin is softer and more relaxed and the pores are less enlarged, I think I’ll do it again”explains the English make-up artist Katie Jane Hughes in her video, showing the results of her test. The effect botox it would be due to the nutrients found in the banana peel, in particular antioxidants such as ascorbic acid, carotene and cyanidin, and vitamin A, known for its toning power.

Since this is a social trend, scientific evidence on the results is lacking, in fact, experts warn of possible adverse reactions that rubbing the peel on the skin could cause on the skin of the face. The same English make-up artist specifies in her reel that someone could even be allergic to a similar treatment.
