Boxing finds a home in Milan
It may be rhetorical, and perhaps it is a little, but the narrative that sees boxing as a saving path to get many lost boys out of trouble is the script for many life stories. And many films too. Boxing is an ancient and noble sport. Sure, hard and angular, but where the rules apply, where opponents respect each other, where there are no shortcuts because in the ring you need courage but above all you need hard work in training. And there are no discounts. Sport in general, and boxing in particular, are a great antidote to the boredom that surrounds the days of many kids and boredom is often the precursor to many troubles. So the fact that a new training house for the growth and development of young athletes was inaugurated today in Milan is excellent news. It will not be available to everyone, obviously, it will be used to prepare the elite for competitions but little changes. Where there is sport there is always good
“As promised – commented the president of the FPI, Flavio D’Ambrosi – the federation took to the field in the area and, for the first time in history, brought a federal center to Lombardy. The sports facility will host the Italian teams for preparation in view of international events, training and sparring of the PRO boxers, interregional collegiate teams aimed at seeking the talent and training and refresher courses for various qualifications. Young boxers will be called up and monitored by the managers of the various national teams. The first collegiate event will take place in December and will see the participation of athletes, qualifying under 15s, from Lombardy and from the regions adjacent to Lombardy”
The new national center is located at the National Shooting Center, in Viale Achille Papa. From the center of the square, over which the most emotional images of Italian boxing dominate, the FPI general secretary Walter De Giusti thanked the Italian shooting federation for its hospitality and synergy, and the experts for the great work of redeveloping a structure that is now state-of-the-art. “Milan – he underlined – returns to being a center of excellence for shooting and boxing, through the important mix between two sports that have peculiarities from a functional and preparation point of view. I am happy that president D’Ambrosi has welcomed and shared this innovative vision which aims at the growth of two disciplines towards the common goal of Los Angeles 2028”.
