By now we all live in an artificial world

Dear director Vittorio Feltri,

In the now unstoppable technological progress of man, we even came to the discovery of artificial intelligence: all with the consequent and inevitable damage and advantages. To this

Point, do you think that science can be interested in trying to also create artificial feeling!?

Dear Renzo,

Artificial feelings have always existed and it does not need science to invent them. We have already created them. Indeed, our era perhaps marks the triumph of the postponement, ostentatious on television, in favor of cameras, on social networks, even in politics, where sobriety was previously widespread while today not only the emotions are not hidden but are even ostentatious, and are always fake, or artificial. You find authenticity around you? I would not like to be too pessimistic but I don’t see any. In the television debates those who participate, instead of expressing a sincere personal opinion, expose the dominant thought, the commonly accepted one, considered more just, appropriate, politically correct. Solidarity, solidarity with women, migrants, blacks, even when you do not try it, is necessary to perform it in order to evade infamous accusations of sexism, racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia. On the web we, human beings in the showcase, we use to show the whole society what it does not

We are, what we do not have, even what we do not try. We live in an artificial world, where humanity becomes increasingly lacking, obnubilated as we are from our mobile phones, from the bulletin board of social media, which we scroll frantically, from pounding and yet of low quality information. “So I think they are,” said Descartes, but it is also true that we feel so we are. Whoever feels nothing is not. He lacks the soul. And today we are not, because we don’t hear. The appearance took over on being and feeling, small things no longer excite us, but only because we are not even able to see them, to realize their existence. We don’t even notice those who are next to us, how you feel, how you are. Do you happen to observe couples at the restaurant? They look at the respective display of the smartphone, once you looked in the eyes and could not pretend. Feelings are consumed quickly because they are fragile, inconsistent, without root. The relationships are sparks or lightning, they are not woven, built,

built. They are abandoned when you get tired and disappear into thin air leaving suspended relationships never started and for this never finished. We take and leave each other, we get married and separate, in an infinite waltz that each of us finds himself dancing in complete solitude. Let’s say we are looking for something true, but we are also not willing to accept it, to welcome him, to live it, when we are lucky enough to find it, that something. The only thing that is familiar to us, so the only thing capable of reassuring us is the artifice. It is in the virtual world but also outside. In reality. We are surrounded.

Artificial intelligence came later, much later. And, all in all, despite risks and possible drifts, it makes less horror than all this. It makes less horror than two individuals who eat and sleep together and do not know each other.
