Central heating: who decides the times

For families in difficult economic conditions, a bonus is provided on electricity bills, including gas bills, to cover the expenses to be incurred.

In condominiums where there is a centralized system, the costs are divided (as written in a previous IlGiornale.It article) by thousandths; but even in this case theArera (Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment) has provided specific economic aid for condominium systems which, however, will only concern those who meet certain income requirements.

Let’s see what it is and how to request it.

What it’s about

It’s a costate economic contributionmanaged by Arera, aimed at families and people in economic difficulty to reduce the costs of the condominium gas and home heating bill.

There are, therefore, access criteria that are linked to the ISEE; In fact, those who have an Economic Situation Indicator of no more than 9,530 euros or, in the case of families with 4 or more dependent children, an income of no more than 20 thousand euros can access the bonus.

The other necessary requirements are that, logically, the condominium gas supply is active and that heating is intended for rooms for residential use, i.e. living quarters.

How much is it?

As Arera reminds us, the value of the gas social bonus depends on:

  • by the number of family members indicated in the DSU;
  • by the use made of the gas (domestic hot water and/or food cooking, heating use, or both types of use);
  • from the climatic zone in which the supply is located.

The discount on the bill therefore also depends on the so-called climate zone, i.e. the territorial areas determined on the basis of the degrees/day calculated for each individual territory.

How to request it

Since the bonus is recognized for 12 months, for households that in 2024 are still receiving the bonus recognized on the basis of the 2023 ISEE certification (between 9,530 and 15 thousand euros), they will find a value of 80% on their bills. % compared to those indicated in the previous tables.

However, if you have never requested the bonus, the first thing to do is to request and submit the Single Self-Declaration (DSU) and obtain a sub-threshold ISEE certificate.

The eligibility criteria are verified by the SII (Integrated Information System – the database that contains the information

relating to electricity and gas supplies and the data of the customers to whom the supply contract is registered, such as the tax code) or by the water manager; only following this verification will the bonus be recognized for 12 months.
