Netflix led the way and now it seems the turn has come Disney+. The Walt Disney Company platform has in fact announced the blocking of account sharing between users. Simply put, it will no longer be possible to “lend” our password to others to allow them to use the services on our account. From now on, each additional user will have to pay.
Disney’s decision
Bog Iger, CEO of Walt Disney Companyhad said it clearly a few months ago: limitations would come into force by September. No sooner said than done, these days the “war” on… password sharing has officially begun. For now the blockade has obviously affected the United States, but also Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala and some territories in Asia and Europe. Following, just today, was Italy.
Stopping account sharing is a type of policy supported by several platforms. The ability to share passwords had led several people to use the services without having to pay fees. A situation initially tolerated but then fought by the platforms.
Starting today, you will need to have an account to access Disney+. If you want to share it with someone, this must be communicated and the service paid with an extra sum. Only in this way, in fact, will it be possible to add an additional user. According to what we read on the platform, we are talking about a maximum of two users, both with their own profiles. Free sharing will only be possible between individuals belonging to the same group family unitor who live in the same house. Disney, in fact, will carry out checks aimed at verifying that access always takes place from the same house indicated as the main residence.
The costs
Having established this, it is necessary to talk about prices. Signing up an extra user to the platform will have a cost that will be added to what must be paid to keep the subscription active.
Specifically we are talking about 4.99 euros per month for those who have a Disney+ subscription with advertising; instead they are 5.99 euros per month for Disney+ Standard and Premium subscriptions.
Only in this way will the additional user be able to access the services offered by the platform. Naturally, the real owner of the subscription for the extra user will be able to decide whether to keep it or not.
