The company note

Fastweb + Vodafone confirms that there is a temporary outage on the fixed and mobile network. Technicians are working to restore services as quickly as possible. Fastweb + Vodafone apologizes to the customers involved and will promptly update the progress of the work“, say the technicians of the telecommunications company.

As anticipated, Fastweb sent a press release regarding the resolution of the outage and the causes that caused it. “Fastweb informs that the outage that affected the fixed network on the morning of October 22nd it has been resolved. The event was caused from a DNS resolution problem, which temporarily prevented access to some services and websites. The technicians acted promptly to resolve the problem by implementing all the mitigation measures necessary to restore full operations. Already at 2pm, most customers had seen their fixed connectivity services return to working normally. A limited part of the internal systems required additional interventions, which are now being completed. Fastweb apologizes for the inconvenience caused and confirms its commitment to ensuring maximum reliability and continuity of services”.

The Codacons note

Another serious disservice in the telephony sector, with Fastweb’s landline network having been affected by technical problems for several hours. Throughout Italy, a large portion of citizens, commercial activities and companies are unable to use fixed line services, including connectivity, due to the technical problem on the network. This is causing enormous inconvenience especially to those who use these services for their work activities. Inconveniences for which the company must now respond: we ask Fastweb to study forms of direct compensation in favor of all users, be they private citizens or businesses, involved in the interruption of service, also through discounts on bills. Without prejudice to the possibility for those who have suffered greater and demonstrable damage to take action against the company to obtain fair compensation”: is the note of Codacons relating to today’s disruptions on the Fastweb network.

Assoutenti’s note

The disruptions that have been affecting Fastweb+Vodafone customers for a few hours demonstrate once again the fragility of the network and infrastructures that manage essential services such as telephone and internet connection”, he declared Assoutients commenting on the technical problems that are affecting the fixed networks of the two companies. “Episodes like today’s are multiplying, and concern both telephone companies, messaging apps and social networks – explains the president Gabriele Melluso – Disservices that create increasingly serious consequences for users, considering that today the use of the internet and telephone services has become fundamental in the daily lives of citizens and businesses. These episodes highlight all the fragilities of the infrastructures that have not yet been resolved, in a context in which digital citizenship and the massive use of artificial intelligence make connectivity an essential prerequisite for the exercise of civil, economic and social rights”.
