Google Update Chrome: now changes passwords alone

Google Chrome It is prepared to welcome a very important and revolutionary update that will allow the millions of users who use it daily to have a valuable computer security tool and privacy protection. According to what is in preview during the Google I/O 2025, in fact, in the browser a new function will be implemented that will allow to modify our passwords in a simple and quick way if they are compromised or not very solid.

The password In fact, they continue to be the favorite authentication tool on the network, and this despite the increasing diffusion of passkey, a method for some time considered by the experts safer and more reliable. Precisely for this reason, the development team of the Mountain View giant has decided to create a password generation system within the manager of the registration forms integrated in his browser. “When Chrome detects a password compromised during access, Google Password Manager will offer the user the opportunity to automatically correct it”explains an official note from the company. If the password ended up in a “Data Breach”this is therefore reported to the user in a pop-up window, in which a key will be present that will allow you to change it immediately with a simple click for all supported sites.

In the web portals that will support this feature, therefore, the browser will not only be reported in the risk, but will be able to intervene actively by generating a replacement access code: the new password, which will be complex and safer than the previous one, will therefore be automatically updated. For the moment it is not known when the upgrade will arrive, even if it is assumed that this will happen by the end of the year: the news has been widespread in advance presumably with the aim of allowing developers to update their websites and applications before the launch.

The vice -president and general manager of Chrome Parisa Tabriz, positively commented on the novelty: “We consider the automatic transmission an advantage for everyone’s security”said.

Another important aspect is that, however much it is a system aimed at increasing the level of safety for the user, the final word will be up to the latter: only he will decide whether or not to accept the change proposed by Chrome.
