Traveling by bike is a way to take a break. We go slower, without haste, on the roads the least beaten in absolute freedom, changing the rhythms because it is easy to stop and start again. The holiday is the journey itself, with its silent and patient flow, with unexpected deviations, with the maps that often get lost, with unexpected stops because you meet a village, a trattoria, a glimpse that deserves a photo. With the sun, with the rain, with the unexpected because it happens (and how if it happens …) to pierce and repair, to get the hands of fat, to have to deal with some bolt that is attached, to have to put their hand to bruv and screwdriver.
Traveling by bike is also finding yourself. Meeting with other travelers cycle, sharing, telling it, telling and a little dreaming … and one of the places where, more than elsewhere, all this generally happens is the BAM! The large European bicycle traveler gathering. Now in its eleventh edition, it will take place from 6 to 8 June in Piazzola sul Brenta (Pd), in the monumental park of Villa Contarini, between Padua and Vicenza. After Livigno, the Rocca di Noale, the Lessini and Mantua mountains, the Bam chose this time to welcome the family of cycle paths one of the most suggestive green and historical areas of our country.
Villa Contarini is located along Treviso Ostiglia -one of the most famous cycle paths in Italy -and is a crossroads of numerous cycle paths that combine the mountains, cities of art and the sea, and is an ideal arrival point for cyclists. A “paradise” of 50 hectares that will be a perfect business card for a territory and a region, Veneto, who for years has been believing a lot in bicycle tourism: there will be a curtain area, a cinema, a space for craftsmanship producers of bicycles, but also the Academy, where courses and workshops of all kinds will be held, from photography to drawing, from cartography to writing, to the Podcast area.
A little cultural festival, a little gathering, a little musical, literary and artisan kermesse The Bam! It makes history to itself mainly because those who participate arrives a little from all of Europe rigorously pedaling, a real “invitation to travel” that puts thousands of people who leave even weeks earlier in each edition, exploring Europe and Italy. The sum of the km covered every year by the participants is impressive, contributes to the sustainability of the event and bring to the attention of all stories and travel experiences. On the occasion of the last edition, the organizers calculated, downwards, that more than 400,000 kilometers were pedaling.
