Last August Google had announced the introduction of artificial intelligence functions in the app Gmail for Android and iOS, included Help me writewhich lets you write the email directly to Gemini. This function is now also available on the web version of Gmail, among the most used in the world, in the form of a dedicated shortcut: by clicking on it, Gemini will independently prepare an email from scratch.
The function will help users prepare an email using the potential of AI and then also guide them from the point of view of writing style. To speed up the process, you could jot down a few ideas and let Gemini help you refine your writing with a couple of clicks. According to what was announced by Google, the function is already available on the web version of Gmail but it may take two weeks for it to reach all users. Unfortunately, these useful tools will not be available to all users but only to Google Workspace users who have paid for the service subscription Google One AI Premium and Workspace, both Business and Education.
Polish, improve emails with one click
If the idea of relying completely on Gemini doesn’t appeal to you, using AI to improve it could be for you. Google has refined the feature Refine my draftmaking it accessible also from the browser: now it’s called Polish (Improve), and is used to change the tone of the email with a couple of clicks. The use is very simple: as soon as you have prepared a draft with more than 12 words, a new shortcut will appear at the bottom of the bar.
Simply click on it or press Ctrl + H and then choose between three options to modify the content: Formalize, Elaborate or Shorten.
Polish will automatically show you the three versions, leaving you to choose which one is the most useful for your purposes. They are marginal improvements but the fact that they arrive a month before the launch of Apple Intelligence signals that the AI war is only just beginning.
