Also Instagramas already happens with all the main social networks, continues to evolve and make innovative tools available to its users. According to what was reported in a preview by the expert Alessandro Paluzzi, the Meta platform is completing the tests on a new feature that will allow everyone to independently generate a version of the profile image modified by artificial intelligence.
To make this option even easier, allowing its millions of users to quickly and intuitively access the tools made available by generative AI, the Meta development team decided to include it directly among the profile editing options. Simply go to the main page, select “Edit profile”, and then click on “Edit image” first and “Create an AI profile image” after: at this point the system will make the changes automatically, creating a version of our avatar modified byartificial intelligence.
If this is new for Instagram, the same cannot be said for other social networks: TikTok and Snapchat, for example, have already made such an option available to their users some time ago, respectively through AI Avatar and Dreams. Staying at home Meta, too Facebook is testing its AI-based profile image generation feature: in this case, however, it seems that Facebook is the one left behind, contrary to what one might have expected, given that the feature has yet to be included among the options available on the platform.
In reality, making a more general consideration, users of Meta social networks have so far never shown themselves particularly enthusiastic in welcoming fake or retouched images by users, as has the company that owns the platform. To demonstrate this, it is enough to remember that only in the first part of 2024 Half removed a thousand fake profiles from the platforms that used AI to create misleading photos capable of capturing users’ attention and carrying out all kinds of scams.
Now, a few months later, the exact opposite is happening, so not only are we starting to open up to intelligence
artificially generative but its use is encouraged: this is a clear push towards what has become a new trend on all the main social networks in order not to lose ground towards the competition.
