iPhone 16 is coming. Previews and launch date: everything we know

Apple’s brand new operating system is expected next fall iOS 19but we are already talking about which devices will be compatible with it. While we are still waiting for the official announcement from the Cupertino giant, and testers are waiting for the month of June to receive some betas, some rumors have been spread about which iPhones could benefit from the update.

For now there is nothing official yet. Apple, according to the latest news released, should present iOS 19 during WWDC 2025 scheduled for June, and at that point we will know something more precise. For the moment it seems that the changes will be minimal, with a gradual release of updatesas was done for iOS 18.

What seems certain, however, is that not all devices in use they will be compatible with Apple’s newest operating system. There is already a list of smartphones and iPads that will be able to receive the update on the web. All those models that have already been able to move to iOS 18 seem safe, therefore also the talked about iPhone XS and iPhone XR, which risked being left behind. Apple, in any case, has promised at least 5 years of software support, even if older models will not be able to benefit from more complex functions, such as Apple Intelligence.

So here they are iPhone which will be compatible with iOS 19 (keep in mind, however, that there is nothing official yet): iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max (2025); iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max (2024); iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max (2023); iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max (2022); iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max (2021); iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max (2020); iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max (2019); iPhone XS, XS Max (2018); iPhone XR (2018); iPhone SE (4th generation) (2025); iPhone SE (3rd generation) (2022); iPhone SE (2nd generation) (2020).

As we said, Apple will most likely opt for a gradual release of the various ones functionsas already done for iOS 18.

Moving on to the iPadit seems that in order to install the new operating system you will need to have a device equipped with

at least one A12 Bionic chip. Models compatible with the update are: iPad mini (5th generation or later); iPad (8th generation or later); iPad Air (3rd generation or later) and iPad Pro (2018 or later).
