So the US Democrats want to hinder Trump's peace plans in Ukraine

There are four days left until the inauguration of Donald Trump at the White House, but the president-elect can already boast his first, fundamental victory. The reference is obviously to the agreement on the release of Israeli hostages and the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Since his electoral victory against Kamala Harris, the tycoon has exerted significant pressure, so much so as to threaten to unleash hell, with not so veiled messages to the other players in the game such as Qatar, Iran and Turkey. No failure, the mantra of the stars and stripes leader, who exploited the already existing agreement scheme – three successive phases to circumvent obstacles – the result of the mediation of the outgoing president Joe Biden.

But not only that. Trump reiterated his desire to continue promoting peace through strength throughout the region, underlining that he wanted to use this truce to further expand the historic Abrahamic Accords: “This is just the beginning of great things to come for America and, indeed, the world! We have accomplished so much without even being in the White House. Just imagine all the wonderful things that will happen when I return to the White House and my administration is fully confirmed, so they can deliver more victories for the United States!”

Trump is gloating and has every reason to be, especially since Biden has also admitted the importance of his work. In his usual speech at the White House, the outgoing president stated that he had worked “as a team” with his public rival for the agreement: “We played as a team. I knew this agreement would have to be implemented by the next team, so I told my cabinet to coordinate closely with the incoming team to ensure we all spoke with the same voice.” A team game, necessary but decisive. Who knows what Harris may have thought but above all what she would have done, who made several turns regarding the Middle East during the electoral campaign.

Great ally and supporter of Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu he said important words towards him. The Israeli prime minister spoke to both him and Biden to thank them for their help in securing a ceasefire-hostage release agreement. But not only that. Netanyahu and the president-elect “agreed to meet soon in Washington.” Certainly a very different relationship compared to the one established with the outgoing president, full of tensions and diversity of views, so much so as to bring the two countries close to a diplomatic crisis on more than one occasion.

In short, Trump achieved his first objective: reaching a truce in the Middle East even before taking office. The left has already swallowed the first bitter pill. But we are only at the beginning. The Republican intends to follow the same trail on conflict in Ukraineeven if the road is certainly more tortuous. Perhaps the twenty-four hours feared more than once will not be enough, but another international success is a more than concrete hypothesis, considering that Trump can boast more relaxed relations with Russia than Biden. We’ll see some beautiful ones…
