News coming to Apple: heart rate is measured by headphones

With Bluetooth earphones produced by Apple it will soon be possible to monitor the heart rate too. This, at least, seems to be planned by examining the code of iOS 18, the new operating system launched by the US multinational.

New features and health

According to what has emerged so far, Apple has long been interested in expanding the functions of its devices to include health. The intention, as noted by experts who analyzed the iOS 18 code, would be to add the possibility of monitoring the physical conditions of users of devices produced by the Cupertino company. This time it’s not about Apple Watch, but about something that, perhaps, will be even more innovative. In fact, there is talk of new functions that will concern the AirPods Pro.

But what is it? According to what was revealed by the experts at 9to5MacIn the iOS 18 code there would be indications that the Apple team intends to equip future earphones with the possibility of measuring heart rate. Obviously we are talking about wireless devices, which will have a particular sensor available to monitor heartbeats. Once collected, the information will be sent to the Apple Health app, where it will be available for review. All of this will happen naturally via Bluetooth. This is a simple to use and very intuitive function.

When will the new feature arrive

Apparently the new feature should arrive together with the launch of the new earphones AirPods Pro 3. There is talk of the same function also for the Powerbeats Pro. In short, the novelty is expected for next year. It is noted that the new function will not only be useful to those who practice sports, and who will be able to use it during their physical activity.

In fact, these headsets can certainly also find use in other areas relating to people’s health. We are already thinking about the future, i.e. the possibility of using these devices to analyze the state of the heart and predict pathologies such as heart attacks and blockages of the arteries.
